AFAA Primary Group Exercise Certification Course & Exam
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  in the  Student Recreation Center-North Group Fitness Studio (Room 202)
Designed for those who are interested in becoming a certified group exercise instructor, this workshop reviews AFAA’s Basic Exercise Standards and Guidelines, anatomy, exercise science, exercise evaluation and exam criteria.  The practical and written exams will be administered at the end of the day.  For more information or to register, visit www.afaa.com.

Dieing Empty with Thomas Dismukes

Thomas Dismukes brought his inspirational stories and unique presentation style to the University Center Ballroom on Thursday, November 11.  His self-professed morbid sounding title, Die Empty-Living to the Limits of our Limited Life, focused more on living life to its fullest as opposed to living in fear of death.

Recreation Services Supports Campus Food Drive

The Department of Recreation Services is proud to support the food drive currently underway on campus.  Southeast Missouri State University and Southeast Missouri Food Bank are teaming up to bring hunger relief to families in the area through Nov. 20. Six of the 16 counties served by the Southeast Missouri Food Bank are the poorest in Missouri.

Canned goods can be dropped off in the orange and blue barrels throughout campus. Collection bins are located in Crisp Hall, University Center, Parker Hall, Kent Library, Dempster Hall, Scully, Academic Hall, Facilities Management, Student Recreation Center-North, Seabaugh Polytechnic Building, River Campus, Innovation Center, Magill, Rhodes, Towers, Malden Campus, Perryville Campus, Sikeston Campus, Kennett Campus, Houck Stadium and the Student Success Center.

Co-sponsors for the event are the Clerical, Technical and Service Staff Council and the Professional Staff Council.

Thomas Dismukes, noted adventurist, humorist, storyteller and world record holder, will present “Die Empty – Living to the Limits of Our Limited Life” at Southeast Missouri State University.  Admission is free.
